Yoga at home - 5 things you can do to keep up your motivation
Nowadays, we are all facing the same challenge - trying to stay healthy and sane while spending more time at home than usual.
Yoga is one of the easiest and adaptable exercises that you can do in the comfort of your home. You don't actually need to go into the studio or outside to do your daily yoga routine. That's what makes yoga at home something that we can all do together, and still, be miles away!
But, it is not that easy, believe me - I know. To always find the motivation, the time and dedication to even go through a 30 min session can be quite challenging depending on all the pressure and stress you had to go through that day. Here are 5 things you can do to make sure that you are on top of the game when it comes to completing one yoga session each day:
1. Set up a sweet little yoga corner in your (living) room
Try 'stealing' one little corner in your home where you will be able to set up all your yoga essentials. Put up your yoga mat neatly folded, stack your yoga bricks, and set up a tiny table where you will be able to light up essential oils when practicing. It will be your go-to place to sense full relief and connect with your inner self after a hard day.
2. Do it with a partner
It is always better in pairs! It has been proven one too many times that the motivation and dedication a lot higher when you are accountable not only to yourself but someone else. In case you do not feel like doing yoga today, your partner might be the one that motivates you and vice versa. In case, there is no one that would like to join you, online videos and yoga masters are always a great replacement!
3. Sign up for a 30 days challenge
There are many different online yoga courses or videos that you can do over the course of 30 days. You don't even have to pay for it - just open up a notes sheet where you will enter all your sessions done in a day and keep track of your progress. You will be amazed by what you can achieve in only 30 days! Keeping track and writing down everything you will do in that month, will boost your motivation to keep going.
4. Book a slot in your calendar
Make it a must! As if you are having a work meeting or have to do something essential, book it in your calendar. It doesn't have to be at the same time every day as your task will vary from day to day, but do make sure that you have it as a daily routine. Take it as walking of a dog, or picking up the kids from school - it has to be done right? Well, this is YOU time and there are no excuses!
5. Read, follow and communicate with the yoga community
We are all tied up in this internet era but it doesn't mean that we can not take advantage of it and make a positive impact on our lives with it. Follow yoga pages/profiles on your favorite social network and you will have a feed full of positive thoughts and posts/pictures that will give you more motivation each day. Read articles of what are the latest yoga products on the market or even how to become better in meditation or in your yoga sessions.
It was once said 'Start small, but think big'. So, this is you starting small with only a month to go to see the first results - what's there to lose?
If you decide to try this out, we'd love to hear your feedback on how you feel after completing the first 30 days and whether this has helped you to become your own little yoga master.
